Actually, this whole ruckus started after a tweet named South Asia Index. South Asia Index wrote in this tweet that ‘Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi may shift from India to Pakistan after the Indian government freezes Rs 5,551 crore in the account.
What did Xiaomi say in his statement?
Responding to this tweet, Xiaomi India completely rejected the report. Xiaomi has said that there is no such thing and it is a complete rumour.
Xiaomi said in a tweet from its Twitter handle, ‘This tweet is completely false and baseless. Xiaomi started its business in India in the year 2014 and in less than a year we started our Make in India journey. 99% of the company’s smartphones and 100% of TVs are manufactured in India. The company will make every effort to stop such rumours.
This week Xiaomi has approached the Karnataka High Court to freeze the bank account. Xiaomi has filed another petition in the High Court on 3 October. The company challenged the September 29, 2022 order of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) Competent Authority, which had upheld the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) order of 29 April, forfeiture.
