India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has shown great form first in the Asia Cup and then in the series against Australia. With his excellent form, Virat Kohli has given a befitting reply to those who were questioning his continuance in the team. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said that the confidence of veteran batsman Virat Kohli is increasing steadily after returning to the team after a long break.

Cricketer-turned-analyst Manjrekar said he can see the former Kohli returning. Also said that the experienced batsmen are enjoying their skills very much. Manjrekar feels this augurs well for the Indian team with the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.

Manjrekar said, “He has improved his batting by scoring runs in every match of the Asia Cup. I think the former Kohli is back. He is relying on his power game. There was a time when he scored runs. But his power game was not going at his behest, but now it has started happening. Virat Kohli is coming back to his rhythm. Now he needs to bat well in the T20 World Cup.”

Mohammed Shami can be an option

Manjrekar further gave his opinion on what went wrong for pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel in the India-Australia series. He realized that Bhuvi, who is currently the most experienced fast bowler from India, is playing too much cricket for his own good. His poor form is due to exhaustion.

Manjrekar said that Harshal Patel has limitations as a fast bowler but India should look at a third fast bowling option and it could be Mohammed Shami. However, Mohammed Shami has been kept in the reserve players for the T20 World Cup.
