Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have invested Rs 12,000 crore in the Indian stock markets so far in the month of September. His investments are based on speculations that central banks around the world, especially the US Federal Reserve, may take a somewhat softer stance on interest rate hikes amid softening inflation.

Foreign investors invested more than Rs 12000 crore in 16 days of September
According to depository data, between September 1 and September 16, foreign portfolio investors have invested Rs 12,084 crore in Indian stock markets. FPIs remained net buyers on expectations of continued economic growth momentum.

So much investment came in July and August
Himanshu Srivastava, Associate Director-Managing Research, Morning Star India, said, “Foreign investors are investing in Indian stock markets on the expectation that global central banks, especially the Federal Reserve, may take a softer stance on rate hikes as inflation rates begin to decline. has occurred.” According to these figures, FPIs had invested Rs 51,200 crore in the Indian markets in August and about Rs 5,000 crore in July.

FPI had withdrawn money from stock markets for 9 consecutive months
FPIs became net buyers in July after exiting the Indian stock markets for nine consecutive months. Earlier, between October 2021 and June 2022, FPIs had withdrawn about Rs 2.46 lakh crore from the Indian stock markets.

what experts believe
Shrikant Chauhan, Head (Equity Research-Retail), Kotak Securities, said FPIs will remain volatile in the times to come in view of monetary tightening, rising inflation and geopolitical concerns.
