Facebook Blocked Fake Account : Social media platform Facebook made a big disclosure on Tuesday by conducting an operation against fake accounts. The social media company says it has demolished a large network of 1,600 fake Facebook accounts used for Russian propaganda about Ukraine. Russian propaganda was being done through these social media accounts and websites and false information was being spread about Ukraine. Let us tell you, even before this, social media websites owned by Meta had blocked more than 60 social media accounts spreading fake news.
More than 60 fake websites are also included
Facebook says that before this fake operation reached a large audience, it was identified and the accounts related to it have been removed. Facebook has also claimed that there are more than 60 fake websites in this operation, which have been created by copying well-known websites like The Guardian newspaper of United Kingdom (UK) and Der Spiegel of Germany. This website was also doing Russian propaganda and spreading fake news about Ukraine.
Fake accounts were banned in India too
Last month, the Indian government also banned several social media accounts, websites and YouTube channels for spreading misleading information. This action was taken under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000. Fake news was being spread from these accounts ranging from nuclear explosion in the country to North Korea sending army to Ayodhya. Let us tell you, these banned accounts and YouTube channels included seven Indian and one Pakistani YouTube channel with millions of views.
