Mark Waugh On Indore Pitch: The third Test between India and Australia is being played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. In this match, India was bundled out for just 109 runs in its first innings. Indian batsmen surrendered in front of Australia’s spin bowling. Hardly anyone would have thought that India would be all out on such a low score in the first innings. During this, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon got a turn of 4.8 degrees on the first day, which probably no spinner has got till date. Overall, the pitch of Indore has come under the scanner on the first day itself. Former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh has raised questions about the Holkar Stadium pitch.
Mark Waugh raised questions
Former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh is associated with Fox Sports these days. He does not agree at all with the behavior of the Indore pitch. He does not consider such a pitch fit for a Test match. Talking to Fox Cricket, he said, ‘This pitch does not live up to the standards of a Test match’. His indication was clear that the Holkar Stadium pitch is not fit for a Test match. Nathan Lyon getting turn at 4.8 degree in this match has been a matter of discussion. India’s five wickets had fallen in just one hour’s play. Overall, India lost 7 wickets in the first session.
Questions were also raised on the pitch of Nagpur-Delhi
Before the Indore Test, questions were also raised on the pitch of Nagpur and Delhi. The Australian media said that India has prepared the wicket accordingly. Because both these test matches were low scoring. In the Test match held in Nagpur, Australia was able to score 177 runs in the first innings and 91 runs in the second innings. Whereas in the Delhi Test, the Australian team scored 263 runs in the first innings and 113 runs in the second. During this, some former cricketers had said that the pitch of Nagpur and Delhi was also not suitable for Test matches. The ICC had given a very average rating for both these pitches.
