Debit Card Complaints Falls: The Reserve Bank of India has released a figure regarding debit cards and ATM cards. In its report, RBI has said that there has been a decline in complaints related to ATM and debit cards in the country. At the same time, there has been an increase in complaints related to loans and advances. In such a situation, the question arises that what is the reason behind the decrease in complaints related to debit cards. According to the Reserve Bank, the number of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) users in India has increased rapidly. In such a situation, there has been a decrease in debit card users. Due to this, there has also been a decrease in complaints related to debit cards.

Year-on-year decline in debit card complaints

According to the Annual Report of the Reserve Bank of India, banks have received a total of 41,375 complaints related to ATMs and debit cards in the financial year 2021-22. Whereas in the financial year 2019-20, the number of these complaints was 67,800. Whereas in the financial year 2020-21, the total number of complaints related to debit cards was 60,203. In such a situation, it can be seen that year after year the complaints related to debit cards have come down from 22 percent to 15.4 percent.

Increase in loan related complaints

According to banks, the number of debit card users in the country is declining rapidly. The biggest reason behind this is that nowadays people pay directly from their account through UPI. In such a situation, the number of people making payments through debit cards has decreased as compared to earlier. At the same time, RBI also told that there has been an increase in complaints related to loans and advances. A total of 16,437 complaints related to loans were registered in the financial year 2019-20, which has reached 24,507 in this financial year 2021-22.

RBI received so many complaints through Ombudsman Integrated Scheme

The Reserve Bank has launched the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme for the convenience of bank customers. Through this, you can register any complaint related to any bank or financial institution regulated by RBI. In the financial year 2022, 2,281 complaints related to loans and advances have been received. At the same time, NBFC Ombudsman has received a total of 20,439 complaints.
