WPL Auction 2023 Live: Pooja Vastrakar was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.90 crore in the Women’s IPL auction. On this Pooja Vastrakar’s father said that, I will ask him to get all the money fixed deposit. Pooja Vastrakar’s father Bandhan Ram Vastrakar said that before going to the T20 World Cup, Pooja had bought him a car worth 15 lakhs, with which he was not happy at all.
Pooja’s father said in a media report that, “She wastes a lot of money, I want her to get an FD of all this money.” Pooja’s father never thought that his daughter would ever play cricket for India and one day she would get so much money because of cricket. Bandhan Ram said, “She has been playing cricket since the age of 4. I never thought she would play cricket for India one day, but she always knew it.”
Journey from street to auction
Pooja’s father told that, “Whenever Pooja used to ask for money for cricket, I used to tease her that why she was wasting her time in cricket. She always used to say that, aap dekhna, India khelungi.” Pooja’s father wants his daughter to come to India after winning the T20 World Cup in South Africa. He said that, I hope that one day she will help India win the World Cup. She has come back from injury and it is expected that she will be fit now.
Pooja’s elder sister Usha said, “For 8-9 years she used to play cricket with the boys in the street, then Ashutosh sir saw her playing on the field and came to our house. Told her father to let her join the academy. A year later, when our mother died, Pooja stopped going to the academy. I found out and dragged her to the academy. Since then she hasn’t missed a single practice session till date. We are very proud of her achievements.”
