For diabetic patients using tablets, these plans may be advised as there are no restrictions on them. According to Chhabra, for diabetics using insulin, most of these plans are not available, in which case they can opt for diabetes specific plans.

These are diabetes special plans that provide initial coverage (including coverage on the first day of diabetes) and are available for diabetics using both tablets and insulin. Chhabra says that many of these plans also have restrictions such as room rent limits or co-payments. These plans are generally more expensive than comprehensive health insurance policies.
