Central government employees and pensioners can now avail the facility of cashless treatment in 6 AIIMS of the country. For this, an agreement has been signed between the CGHS of the Union Health Ministry and six AIIMS. The Union Health Ministry gave this information in an official statement on Saturday.

Facility started from these 6 AIIMS

The Ministry informed that cashless treatment facility will now be available to all serving and pensioner beneficiaries of CGHS in 6 AIIMS located at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh. This decision was taken in the presence of Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan. Now cashless treatment facility will be provided to the CGHS beneficiary in 6 fully functional AIIMS located at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh.

Treatment will be easy for the beneficiaries

This will be especially beneficial for the retired pensioners of CGHS, who face difficulties in completing subsequent procedures regarding the cost of treatment. CGHS beneficiaries will now get the benefit of state-of-the-art treatment facilities available in these AIIMS without the hassle of making the first payment and then seeking reimbursement from the CGHS. This initiative will save time, reduce paper work and reduce individual claims.

CGHS will pay the expenses

The ministry informed that all categories of CGHS beneficiaries including pensioners will be able to avail cashless facility for OPD, investigation and treatment in these 6 AIIMS. These 6 AIIMS will send the credit bills of CGHS pensioners and other categories of eligible beneficiaries to CGHS and the same will be paid within 30 days from the receipt of bills from CGHS.

CGHS beneficiaries will have to produce their CGHS Beneficiary Identity Card at AIIMS to avail this facility. The government has also made more arrangements for the convenience of the CGHS beneficiaries. AIIMS will create a separate help desk and a separate accounting system for CGHS beneficiaries. Beneficiaries can also get medicines prescribed by doctors at AIIMS for OPD treatment or at the time of discharge from AIIMS through CGHS.

Access to CGHS services will increase

The health switch said that a large section will benefit from this agreement, as it will ease long formalities and speed up access to medical facilities. This will also increase the reach of CGHS services across the country, as this agreement will allow CGHS beneficiaries to avail treatment from AIIMS institutes in their respective states. He said that the CGHS has revised some rates of treatment and medical care, giving patients the benefit of easy treatment.

Soon these hospitals will also benefit

In the coming days, CGHS beneficiaries will also get the facility of cashless treatment in some other big hospitals of the country. The ministry told that AIIMS located in New Delhi will also be brought under the purview of the agreement signed with 6 AIIMS. Apart from this, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research Puducherry will also be included in this agreement.
