Stock Market Closing On 24 July 2023: The first trading session of the week has proved to be extremely disappointing for the Indian stock market. Due to profit-booking by investors and heavy fall in FMCG stocks in particular, the market witnessed a major decline. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 300 points at 66,384 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed down by 72 points at 19,672 points.

In today’s business, the shares of Banking, IT, FMCG, Metals, Energy, Consumer Durables, Oil and Gas sectors closed down. The biggest Nifty was seen in FMCG. This index has closed with a decline of 925 points or 1.72 percent. While the stocks of Auto, Pharma, Real Estate, Infra and Healthcare sectors closed with a boom. Small cap shares also gained momentum. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 17 closed with gains and 13 closed with losses. Whereas in 50 stocks of Nifty, 30 stocks closed with a boom and 20 with a decline.

In today’s business, IndusInd Bank 2.01 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra 1.56 per cent, Power Grid 1.3 per cent, Bajaj Finserv 1.30 per cent, Ultratech Cement 1.14 per cent, Asian Paints 0.74 per cent, Larsen 0.74 per cent, TCS 0.73 per cent, Tata Motors closed with a gain of 0.55 per cent. While looking at the falling stocks, ITC closed down by 3.87 per cent, Kotak Mahindra by 3.80 per cent, Tech Mahindra by 2.80 per cent, Reliance by 1.92 per cent, Tata Steel by 1.03 per cent.

In today’s trade, there was a decline in the market cap of the companies listed on BSE. The market cap of companies listed on BSE stood at Rs 302.09 lakh crore as compared to Rs 304.03 lakh crore in Thursday’s session. That means there has been a loss of Rs 1.94 lakh crore in today’s trade.
