Retail Sector Global Job: The demand for jobs in the retail sector has decreased this year in the country. Global job website ‘Indeed’ has claimed in its report that there has been a decrease of about 11.80 percent in the number of people looking for jobs in the retail sector compared to last year. If we look at the data of retail job seekers between the last 3 years i.e. August 2019 to August 2022, then it has seen an overall decrease of 5.5 percent. At the same time, during the Kovid Pandemic i.e. between August 2020 and August 2021, there was an increase of 27.70 percent in the number of job seekers in the retail sector.

This report of Indeed has been prepared on the basis of analysis of data between August 2019 and August 2022. According to the report, 22.9 percent jobs in the retail sector are branch manager, 10.07 percent jobs sales associate, 9.52 percent jobs store manager, 4.58 percent jobs logistics associate and 4.58 percent jobs of merchandiser. From the point of view of job seekers, there is a demand of 15 percent for store manager, 14.4 percent for retail sales associate, 11 percent for cashier, 9.49 percent for branch manager and 9.08 percent for logistics associate.

Bengaluru largest share of retail sector employment

Shashi Kumar, Sales Head, Indeed India, says that “The festive season in India leads to an increase in seasonal employment to meet the growing demand. This increase is not the same as last year, but this time around 39.6 percent new jobs have been created. The report said that Bengaluru has the largest share in the employment of the retail sector, which is about 12.26 percent. After this, Mumbai is in second place with 8.2 percent share and Chennai is at number three with 6.02 percent. The report claimed that the highest 5.5 per cent delivery jobs were created in Bengaluru, while the highest number of job seekers was in Chennai at 6.29 per cent.
