Record GST collection of Rs 1.87 lakh crore in April 2023, PM Modi said big thing

GST Revenue Collection: The figures of GST collection in April 2023 have created history. The figures of GST collection have come to the fore, according to which the GST collection in April has been Rs 1.87 lakh crore, which is a historical record so far. In March 2023, the country’s GST collection was Rs 1,60,122 crore. Last year in April 2022, the GST collection was Rs 1,67,540 crore. That is, in comparison to last April, in the GST collection this April, Rs 19,495 crore more GST has been collected.

Releasing the data of GST collection, the Finance Ministry said that the GST collection in April 2023 is 12 percent more than in the month of April last year. On April 20, 2023, there were 9.8 lakh transactions in one day, in which Rs 68,228 crore GST has been collected in a single day. Earlier, the record of transaction in a day was last year on April 20, 2022, when 9.6 lakh transactions took place in a day, in which 57,846 crore GST recovery was seen.

According to the data, in the total GST collection of 1,87,035 crore in April, CGST collection is Rs 38,440 crore, SGST collection is Rs 47,412 crore, IGST is Rs 89,158 crore and Rs 12.025 crore has been recovered as cess. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on the record GST collection that this is huge news for the Indian economy. The record increase in tax collection despite the low tax rate shows how GST has been successful in integration and compliance.

However, this is the first time that the GST collection has crossed Rs 1.75 lakh crore. 9 crore e-way bills were generated in March 2023 while 8.1 crore e-way bills were generated in February. If we look at the revenue of the central and state government in the month of April, the revenue of the center after regular settlement has been CGST of Rs 84,304 crore, while the SGST for the states has been Rs 85,371 crore.
