Railways said that in the period April-November 2022, it transported 97.87 million tonnes of goods, while the figure was 90.31 million tonnes in the same period a year ago. In this way, an increase of 8 percent has been recorded in the freight traffic of the Railways during this period.
Earning 16 percent more
In the first 8 months of the current financial year, Railways earned Rs 1,05,905 crore from freight, which is 16 percent more than a year ago. In April-November 2021, Railways earned Rs 91,127 crore from freight.
Transportation of tons of goods in November
Railways transported 12.39 million tonnes of goods in the month of November, which is 5 percent more than the 11.69 million tonnes in November 2021. Railways said that under the ‘Hungry for Cargo’ campaign, it has achieved this achievement due to efforts to promote freight movement.
