PSL: Two teams took entry in playoffs, these three also involved in the race; karachi kings is out

PSL 2023 Playoffs: So far 24 matches have been played in Pakistan Super League 2023. After the matches held so far, two teams have made it to the playoffs. There is a race between three teams for the remaining two places in the playoffs, while one team has been eliminated from the race. Now only 6 matches are left in the round robin stage in this league. In such a situation, the teams that have reached the playoffs will try to make a place in the qualifiers. At the same time, the teams involved in the playoff race would like to finish on the top-4 in the points table.

6 teams are participating in PSL 2023. In the round-robin stage, each team has to play two matches each with the remaining 5 teams. That is, 10-10 matches are to come for each team. Four teams have played eight matches here, Peshawar Zalmi have played 7 matches so far, while Karachi Kings have played 9 matches. Out of these 6 teams, the top-4 teams will reach the playoffs. In these top-4 also, top-2 teams will play qualifiers, whose winner will get direct entry in the final. On the other hand, the third and fourth ranked teams in the points table will first play the eliminator and then face the losing team in the qualifiers to reach the finals.

At present, the teams of Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United have reached the playoffs. Both teams have 12-12 points in their account. Both these teams would like to finish on top-2 only so that they get a chance to play the qualifiers. Both the teams are yet to play 2-2 matches.

There is a race between Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators for the remaining two spots of the playoffs. Here Multan and Peshawar Zalmi can secure a place in the playoffs only by winning one match each in their remaining matches. At the same time, Quetta Gladiators will have to win both their remaining matches under any circumstances. The net run rate between these three teams can also play an important role in the playoff race.
