Shahid Afridi on Mickey Arthur: Former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur is expected to take over the reins of the Pakistan team once again. Although there is a twist here. According to the information so far, Arthur will not be with the Pakistan team full time i.e. he will be available online. Although he will be present with the team in big events like the World Cup. If this happens then Arthur will be the first ‘online coach’ in the cricket world. When former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi was questioned on this role of Arthur, he termed PCB’s decision as incomprehensible.
Shahid Afridi said, ‘I also just read this in the news. I did not understand how online coaching would happen. Don’t know what is their plan, I do not understand. See why only coaches from outside countries, there are people in your country too who can become coaches. Yes, PCB sees that our country’s coaches are made, then they get divided into politics and players of likes and dislikes. But still we have some people who can fulfill this responsibility very well.
Mickey Arthur can also be in the role of team director
The Pakistan Cricket Board and Mickey Arthur were in continuous talks for some time now. PCB chairman Najam Sethi wanted to see Mickey Arthur as the coach of the Pakistan team once again. Arthur has previously been the coach of the Pakistan team from 2016 to 2019. Then Najam Sethi was the chairman of PCB. However, it is not yet decided whether Arthur will join Pakistan or not. Arthur is currently the coach of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
According to a report by Cricinfo, Mickey Arthur will join Team Direct Pakistan. He will not remain the head coach of the team. Along with this, Grant Bradburn can be the assistant coach of Pakistan. Rehan-ul-Haq of Islamabad United can become the team manager of Pakistan.
