At the same time, India can become the world’s largest hub in terms of electric vehicle manufacturing. Not only this, due to the promotion of electric vehicles, there is a possibility of creating 1 crore new employment opportunities in the country by 2030.

Addressing the program related to Electric Mobility in Business Chamber FICCI, Prime Minister, Advisor to PMO Tarun Kapoor said that the time has come for electric vehicles in the country. And considering the concerns related to energy conservation and environment, it is very important for India to move in this direction. He said that the government also wants to move fast in this direction. Now the government wants to see more and more electric cars, buses and two-wheelers on the roads. The aim of the government is to develop India as a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles. Tarun Kapoor said that in the next 5 to 7 years, we should move forward with the target of 100 percent electric two-wheeler.

FICCI-Yes Bank’s report India @ 2047 on electric mobility was released on this occasion. According to this report, due to the value chain being prepared for electric vehicles, by 2030, 1 crore new employment opportunities will be created in the country. It has been said in the report that by 2047, 87 percent of the new vehicles sold in the country will be electric vehicles. In which 90 percent two-wheelers, 79 percent passenger cars, 92 percent three-wheelers and 67 percent buses sold will be electric.

According to the report, by 2047 there will be a huge reduction in the import of crude oil. Crude oil consumption by automobiles will be reduced by up to 40 percent, which will save foreign exchange. India imports 80 percent of crude oil for its consumption.

The report highlights high upfront cost, access to finance, lack of resale market and loopholes in the duty structure as the biggest challenges in promoting EVs.
