UGC Releases Guidelines For Universities: There is good news for university students. Now they can take admission in two degree programs simultaneously. This rule was issued some time back, but the guidelines regarding this have been issued recently by the UGC. The UGC has sent guidelines to all the universities in this regard and has also given instructions for statutory changes. From this academic session, students will be able to study two degree programs simultaneously. Not only this, physical enrollment can be done in these degree programs, that is, it is not necessary for a program to have a distance mode.
These proposals also got approval –
Other proposals approved in the UGC Council meeting along with two degree programs include Professor of Practice, PhD and a proposal for admission to additional seats for foreign students. On the basis of this, the UGC has sent its guidelines to the universities and states yesterday i.e. on Friday.
Legal changes will also happen soon –
Statutory changes have also been asked to facilitate students to pursue two degree programs simultaneously in the university. Pro. M Jagadesh Kumar said that in this, the higher educational institutions have been requested to devise a system through their statutory bodies to allow students to pursue two academic programs simultaneously.
Scheme to be implemented soon
UGC Secretary Prof. A letter has been sent on behalf of Rajneesh Jain and it has been requested that this scheme should be implemented at the earliest for the convenience and interest of the students. Under the new rules, students will now be able to take admission in two degree programs in physical mode and will be able to pursue them. Only they have to see that the class of one degree program does not come in the middle of the class of another degree program.
