No relief to Chanda Kochhar and her husband from the High Court, asked to file a petition after the holidays are over

Chandra Kochhar: Former MD and CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar did not get relief from the Bombay High Court. Both had challenged their arrest by the CBI in the High Court terming it as illegal. The court refused to hear his petition. The vacation court said that it will not interfere in this matter. The court has asked Chanda Kochhar and her husband to file a petition in the regular bench after the holidays are over.

Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar were arrested by the CBI last week for alleged irregularities in the loan disbursement of Videocon Group. The CBI has also arrested Venugopal Dhoot of Videocon. Chanda Kochhar and her husband told the court that they were arrested without any sanction under the Prevention of Corruption Act. In the petition, the petitioner requested the court to quash the remand order. However, the High Court bench, which is hearing during the holidays, said that there is no hurry for the hearing and the petitioners can apply for hearing in the regular bench after January 7.
