Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday heaped praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appreciated the Centre’s Make In India initiative. Calling PM Modi Russia’s “big friend,” he said that PM Modi launched the Make In India initiative several years ago and it had an impressive effect on the Indian economy. He further said that there is no harm in emulating what is working well, even if it was not us but our friends who created it.
“Our friends in India and our big friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched the ‘Make in India’ initiative several years ago. It has had a truly impressive effect on the Indian economy. It would do no harm to emulate what is working well, even if it was not us but our friends who created it,” Putin said, as quoted by Russian news channel RT.
Speaking at a forum in Moscow organized by Russia’s Agency for Strategic Initiatives, Putin also discussed the opportunities for Russian companies due to the sanctions imposed by the West. He also highlighted the need for Moscow to “offer support tools to help our companies market their products more efficiently,” as reported by RT.
