Roger Binny said that the Indian government will take a decision on whether Team India will go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. Actually, Roger Binny was speaking at an event organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association in Bangalore.
‘This decision has to be taken by the Government of India’
According to Roger Binny, the Indian government has not yet been contacted on the issue of the Indian cricket team going to Pakistan, but the Indian government has to take the final decision. He said that this decision is not for the BCCI to take. If the Indian team will go to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup 2023, then this decision has to be taken by the Government of India. Roger Binny says that the Indian team should go somewhere to play or come to India to play any country, for this the consent of the Government of India is necessary. He further said that we have to trust the government. However, till now the government has not been contacted on this issue.
‘Approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs is necessary to go to Pakistan’
It is worth noting that Asia Cup 2023 is to be held in Pakistan, but in the past, BCCI President Jai Shah had clearly said that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan for this tournament. At the same time, he had said that the Asia Cup 2023 should be played at a neutral venue instead of Pakistan. At the same time, on Thursday, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that if the Indian team goes to Pakistan, then approval will have to be taken from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
