Indian stock market closed with a heavy fall for the second consecutive day, Nifty slipped below 18000

Stock Market Closing On 5th January 2023: The Indian stock market has closed with a decline for the second consecutive day. Although the market has made a comeback from the lower level. At one time, there was a decline of 600 points in the Sensex and 150 points in the Nifty. But at the end of today’s trading, the Sensex fell by 304 points to 60,353 and the NSE’s Nifty closed below 18,000 by 51 points at 17,992 points. Sensex has fallen by 940 points and Nifty by 240 points in the last two days.

Sectoral Update

Today the market was seen in the shares of Auto, Pharma, FMCG, Metals, Energy sector. While the shares of Banking, IT, Consumer Durables sector closed down. Midcap and smallcap shares have also seen a boom. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 14 closed with gains while 16 closed with losses. Out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 31 stocks are up and 19 stocks are down.

In today’s trading session, ITC shares closed up by 1.91 per cent, NTPC by 1.77 per cent, HUL by 1.75 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra by 1.27 per cent. While Bajaj Finance closed down by 7.21 per cent, Bajaj Finserv by 5.10 per cent, ICICI Bank by 2.22 per cent, Infosys by 1.32 per cent.

Investors’ wealth increased on the decline in the market

In the stock market, both the indices have closed with a decline but there has been a jump in the wealth of the investors. The market cap of companies listed on BSE stood at Rs 282.03 lakh crore. Whereas on Wednesday it was Rs 281.61 lakh crore.
