Ingredients to make Vada Pav
- 3 boiled potatoes
- 11/2 cup gram flour (besan)
- 4 loaf
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
- 1 tsp finely chopped green chilies
- 2 tbsp curry leaves
- Salt as required
- 2 cups rice bran oil
- 4 red chilies
- 2 tbsp white sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp green chutney
- 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
- 1/4 cup butter
- tbsp coriander powder
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp mustard seeds
Mumbai Style Vada Pav Recipe
To prepare this easy recipe, take a bowl and add gram flour, coriander powder, salt and water to a smooth and Prepare a paste of medium consistency. Set it aside until needed.
After this place a fry pan on medium flame and heat about 2 tbsp oil in it.
When the oil is heated, add mustard seeds, ginger, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves and keep this tempura in a bowl.
Mash the potatoes in another bowl and add salt as per taste. Rub well.
Heat the remaining oil in a deep frying pan on high heat. Meanwhile, make small tikki shaped balls from the potato mixture.
As soon as the oil is hot, dip each ball in gram flour solution and put it in the pan. Fry these tikkis on medium flame till they become light golden.
As the vadas are frying, in a grinder, grind the dry red chillies, sesame seeds and ½ tsp salt till coarse.
In a shallow fry pan, heat the butter on a low flame and grill the pav bread till lightly golden and crisp.
Now, it’s time to assemble your Vada Pav! Apply green chutney on one side of the bun and tamarind chutney on the other side. Then keep the vada aside and sprinkle a few pinches of pre-prepared chili and sesame powder. Vada Pav is ready.
