Government employees of Uttar Pradesh will agitate for the restoration of the old pension system

Old Pension Scheme Update: Employees organizations will intensify their agitation in Uttar Pradesh for the demand of restoring the old pension system. Under this, a torchlight procession will be taken out at all the district headquarters on May 21 and ‘Pension Rath Yatra’ will be started in the state from Tuesday, which will go to every district of the state.

Harikishore Tiwari, a member of the steering committee of the organization ‘Old Pension Restoration Forum’, which is leading this campaign, told the language that the movement for the restoration of the old pension system will be intensified in the entire country including Uttar Pradesh. He said that ‘Pension Rath Yatra’ will be taken out in the state from Tuesday and in the first phase this yatra will start from Kanpur and go up to Bundelkhand and Purvanchal and from there will reach Lucknow. The Rath Yatra of the second phase will pass through western Uttar Pradesh and Ruhilkhand.

He told that on coming May 21, various central and provincial employees’ organizations will take out torchlight processions at all the district headquarters of the state. After that, on June 21, the employees will hold a big demonstration in Lucknow regarding the restoration of old pension. Tiwari informed that a program to gherao the Parliament House is also proposed during the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament.

He informed that the old pension system has been restored in Rajasthan, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh. If the government is really friendly to the employees, then it should be implemented in the whole country. It is noteworthy that in the year 2004, the then Atal Bihari Vajpayee government at the Center had abolished the old pension system. Under this, the old pension scheme was discontinued for the employees appointed after April 2005.

Let us tell you that the Central Government has formed a committee under the chairmanship of the Finance Secretary, which is studying the National Pension Scheme. Which will submit its recommendations to the government regarding the improvement of this pension scheme.
