Google News on WearOS: Google launched the Pixel Watch along with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro at its ‘Made by Google’ event. It seems that after the launch of the first smartwatch, Google has asked developers to create more apps for Wear OS. Reportedly, Google is building a WearOS version of Google News. This app has been available in mobile devices for a long time.

According to a report by AndroidPolice, Google is working on a version of Google News Feed that will allow users to read directly from their smartwatch. The report cites a Reddit user as saying that he managed to access the Google News Play Store listing on his WearOS watch. The user has also shared screenshots of the upcoming app. The Google News app is not yet available on the WearOS version of the Play Store.

The screenshots show a simplified version of the app’s news feed and a tile that will help users read the news on their smartwatch. The UI of the app looks similar to other Google apps on Lasso Wear OS 3. The report does not say when this new app will be available for smartwatches running Wear OS 3.

WearOS 3 not available in India
Google’s WearOS 3 is already available on some smartwatches like the Google Pixel Watch. Notably, the tech company has not launched its first smartwatch in India and it is available in select markets. Meanwhile, Google has launched Android 13 Go version for the budget smartphone with a new update. The Go version was introduced five years ago to help manufacturers build affordable devices with a tailored software experience. This upgraded version of Android removes unnecessary apps from the smartphone and includes only the essential ones.
