Gobardhan Portal: The central government is working fast regarding the biogas project. Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the registration portal for setting up the Gobardhan Yojana plant this week. According to the Union Minister, this will improve the process of waste management as this portal will act as a one stop repository for assessing investment and participation in biogas or compressed biogas (CBC) sector. He said that any government, cooperative, or private entrepreneur can register and take a registration number to set up a biogas, subsic or bio-CNG plant in India.
Energy will be generated from these wastes
Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan (Gobardhan) is an initiative of Government of India which aims to convert waste into wealth towards promoting alternative economy. The official statement said that the Center is setting up Biogas, CBG and CNG plants to promote strong economic growth and promote circular economy. The objective of this scheme is to generate energy by converting cow dung, crop residue and other organic waste into biogas, CBG and biofertilizers. Along with this, it was also told that it is being operated in partnership with private sector including state government, entrepreneurs, societies etc.
Schemes included under various departments
All the benefits from the Central Government will be made available to those who register for this scheme. It covers schemes under various ministries and departments, including SATAT scheme of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, SBM of DDWS, Agri Infrastructure Fund (AIF) of Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare and Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development of Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying Fund (AHIDF).
