FPI Investment: The confidence of foreign investors in Indian markets is increasing rapidly. For the first few months of this year, foreign investors remained pure sellers in the Indian markets, but now the trend seems to be returning towards buying. Its effect is also visible in the figures of FPI purchase for December.

How was the buying data of FPI investors till December 23

Foreign investors have invested a net Rs 11,557 crore in Indian equities so far in December, despite the re-spread of Kovid infection in some other countries including China and the fall in the stock market. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) made a net investment of Rs 11,557 crore in equities during December 1-23, according to depository data.

Know September, October, November figures of FPI investment

Earlier, FPI had made a net investment of over Rs 36,200 crore in November. Due to the weakening of the US Dollar Index and positive economic trends, the trend of IPI increased towards Indian markets. According to depository data, foreign investors had withdrawn Rs 8 crore in October and Rs 7,624 crore in September.

What do market experts say

VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services, said that in the coming times, the market movement will be determined by the macroeconomic data of America and the status of Kovid transition.

Himanshu Srivastava, Joint Director – Research Manager, Morning Star India, said that FPIs remained net buyers in the Indian stock markets (in December) despite the fall in the markets and apprehensions about the Kovid transition. He further said that the volume of net inflows decreased in the week ended December 23, indicating that foreign investors are gradually turning cautious in view of the recent developments and uncertainties.
