Finance Minister: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit the US to host the G20 meeting as well as attend the 2023 meeting of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). His visit to America will be for a week. During this time she will host the 2nd G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting as part of India’s G20 Presidency and G20 related side events.
G20 FMCBG meeting will be the second in three sessions
Sitharaman and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das will co-chair the 2nd G20 FMCBG meeting on April 12-13, 2023. About 350 delegates from G20 members, 13 other countries, international and regional organizations will participate in this meeting. The second G20 FMCBG meeting will consist of three sessions.
What issues will be discussed
Addressing food and energy insecurity, removing World Debt vulnerabilities, strengthening development banks, mobilizing funds for climate action, advancing financial inclusion and accelerating international tax and financial progress at the 2nd G20 FMCBG meeting Will be considered. This G20 FMCBG meeting will further efforts to prepare G20 India Finance Track Deliverables for the 3rd G20 FMCBG meeting to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India in July 2023.
Meeting with World Bank and IMF to be held on April 12
The Finance Minister will also participate in a fireside chat at the Peterson Institute of International Economics (PIIE) on April 10, 2023, during her visit. Will meet US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a high-level meeting on 11 April. On April 12, there will be a meeting with the IMF and the World Bank. It will discuss the current global debt and ways to solve the current challenges.
