According to Moneycontrol’s exclusive news, this elderly woman from Jharigaon, Odisha, Surya Harijan was not going to take pension from State Bank. According to the local administration and family members of the woman, Surya was not going to collect pension from Harijan Bank but was returning from her daughter’s house.

News agency ANI recently tweeted this video. When Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also shared this video and asked SBI to show humanity and take action on a bank friend, then the country’s largest public sector bank State Bank of India had to give clarification on this matter.

In a statement to Moneycontrol, the Collector and District Magistrate (DM) of Nabarangpur said that the video was misinterpreted and the matter was blown out of proportion. The truth is that the old lady was returning from her daughter’s house. The social security officer and program assistant of our block took the woman to the SBI branch in a government vehicle and dropped her back to her home.

It was also informed that the finger of Surya Harijan, an elderly woman, is broken due to which she is not able to withdraw her money digitally as her fingerprints were not matching.

When the news agency ANI had tweeted the video of this elderly woman, the State Bank of India had assured that the pension of the elderly woman would be delivered at her home. The branch manager of SBI branch of Jarigaon said that Surya Harijan used to collect his old age pension from the CSP point of the village earlier. But due to his age, his fingerprints could not match. Then she went to the branch of the bank with her relative where the branch manager paid her pension. Along with this, a wheelchair was also given to the elderly woman.
