MS Dhoni in Madras High Court: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) has reached the Madras High Court against an IPS officer. Here he has filed a criminal contempt petition against the officer. This petition has been filed in the context of commenting against the order given by the Supreme Court in the IPL betting case.

Dhoni has filed this contempt petition against IPS officer G Sampath Kumar, who investigated IPL 2013 spot-fixing and betting. Along with this, Dhoni has also sought 100 crore compensation from Sampath Kumar for making allegations of match-fixing against him. The matter was to be heard on Friday but now it will be heard on Tuesday.

Dhoni had filed a defamation claim on G Sampath Kumar in the year 2014. The same year, the Supreme Court ordered Sampath Kumar not to make any remarks against Dhoni. However, despite this, Sampath Kumar filed an affidavit in this matter with the Supreme Court. Dhoni’s side says that in this affidavit derogatory remarks were made against the judiciary and the Madras High Court. Now Dhoni has demanded to initiate proceedings against Sampath Kumar for contempt of court regarding this.

What is said in the petition?
Dhoni’s petition states, ‘Sampat Kumar’s statement is going to shake the trust of a common man in the judiciary. The statements made by him in writing bring down the authority of the court. These statements also have the effect of interfering and obstructing the administration of the judiciary.
