Delhi University Center for Disabilities StudiesDelhi University is soon going to start a Center for the Study of Disabilities with an aim to make education more inclusive. University officials gave information about this in a webinar. Officials said that several courses related to computer and skill enhancement will be started under the centre.
A university official said that Delhi University is starting the Center for the Study of Disabilities under which several courses will be started. The focus of the Center will be on making education and administration more inclusive. He said that the Center will pay special attention to sign language. We are planning to start computer related and skill enhancement courses at this centre.
The webinar was organized to sensitize the students about the reservation policies to help the students from minority and backward classes during the ongoing admission process in DU. Officials said that a total of five per cent seats in each course of all DU colleges are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) category candidates.
He said that a separate merit list would be declared for the candidates seeking admission under PWD quota. Also, candidates will be considered for admission under the respective categories only if they submit a valid certificate or document issued by the respective issuing authority.
Committee will be formed to solve the problem
Also, for redressal of grievances arising during admission, he said that a Grievance Redressal Committee would be constituted for each college. In addition, a Grievance Redressal Sub-Committee will also be set up for backward and minority candidates.
