Before Uttar Pradesh, these states have announced to increase dearness allowance
On October 14, in the Chhattisgarh government, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had announced to increase the dearness allowance of the state employees and increased it by 5 percent to 33 percent.
About 3.80 lakh employees are expected to benefit from this.

Earlier in the beginning of October, the Delhi government had also announced to increase the dearness allowance by 4 percent for its employees.

The Jharkhand government had on October 10 increased the dearness allowance by 4 per cent for its employees and directed it to be implemented from July 1, 2022.

The government of Rajasthan had also increased the dearness allowance for its employees and brought it from 34 per cent to 38 per cent.

The central government had increased the dearness allowance and since then the people of the state also expected that the present UP government led by Yogi Adityanath can also take such a decision regarding government employees. The central government had also announced an increase in dearness allowance by four percent to 38 percent, which is effective from July.
