A report related to cybercrime has been shared by ‘Check Point Research’, in which it has come to the fore that weekly cybercrime in India has increased by 18% in the first quarter of this year as compared to last year and more than 2,000 were reported to each organization. Cyber attacks have been received. Means scammers have targeted every area.
This area became prime target
According to the report, there has been an increase of 7% in weekly cyber crime this year as compared to last year. Globally Q1 2023 saw the highest number of cyber attacks on the education and research sector with an average of 2,507 weekly attacks per organization. Compared to last year’s Q1, it saw an increase of 15%. Scammers then targeted the government and military sectors the most, with 1,725 attacks noted weekly, up 3% from last year.
In the health care sector too, 22% cyber attacks were reported on a large scale and 1,684 attacks were registered weekly. The sector most targeted by thugs in the first quarter of 2023 is the retail and wholesale sector. In this, 49% more attacks were seen than last year and weekly 1,079 attacks were done in different ways.
Asia Pacific region most affected
Weekly cyber attacks on organizations in the Asia Pacific region grew 16% compared to last year, with each organization being targeted an average of 1,835 times. After this, there is North America region, where there has been an increase of 9% compared to last year, but organization weekly 950 cyber attacks have been done.

Apart from this, it has also been said in the Counter Point Research report that 1 organization out of every 31 organizations globally has also faced weekly ransomware attacks, which is 1% more than last year. Latin America saw the highest number of ransomware attacks, with 1 in 17 organizations targeted by scammers and thugs.
