Sachin Tendulkar’s Century Record: Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting believes that it is not impossible for Virat Kohli to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries. He has said that Virat still needs 30 centuries to break Sachin’s record, which is too much but still Kohli can reach this record.
Ricky Ponting said, ‘I will not say impossible words for Virat in this matter. You know how hungry he gets for runs and success once he gets into the rhythm. I will never say that Virat cannot break that record (Sachin’s 100 centuries). I still think he has a few more years left. Although I also agree that scoring 30 centuries is not a small thing.
Ponting also told that if he wants to break Sachin’s record of centuries, then he will have to score 5-6 centuries in Tests every year. They will have to do this continuously for the next 3-4 years. Along with this, some centuries will also have to be scored in ODI cricket.
Virat’s century came after 1020 days
Virat Kohli recently scored his 71st century. He completed his century in just 53 balls against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022. After 1020 days, Virat’s bat got a century. With this century, he also said goodbye to the poor form that has been going on for the last two and a half years. Significantly, Virat’s bat was silent for a long time before the Asia Cup. He was not able to score runs in any format of cricket.
