Blinkit Trouble: Blinkit’s troubles don’t seem to be stopping and now around 1000 employees of the company in the National Capital Region have found jobs in its rivals such as quick commerce operators Swiggy, Instamart, Zepto and BigBasket. The employees of the company have taken this step because they were protesting against its payout structure.
Earlier in April itself, the company had announced that the company would pay its delivery executives Rs 15 per trip from the norm based on the distance-based component. Earlier, Blinkit had fixed Rs 25 for each trip and Rs 15 per trip for rides, deducting Rs 7 from the peak hour incentive. Blinkit’s delivery workers were protesting against this change and they say that it is reducing their earnings.
Blinkit’s delivery workers’ protest affected many of its dark stores, micro warehouses etc. which are located in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, Blinkit stores remained closed for several days in these cities due to the effect of the protest. Now, despite the company’s best efforts, many dark stores in Delhi and Gurugram are not operational because they do not have enough delivery executives.
Blinkit has around 200 warehouses in Delhi-NCR serving its customers within a radius of 2-3 kms.
App delivers goods in minutes
Last year, Zomato bought Blinkit (formerly known as Grofers) for $550 million. Through this app, the goods are delivered to the people in a few minutes. The company delivers everything from groceries to fruits and vegetables within 10 minutes. This makes it easier for people to order goods. Now most of Blinkit’s dark stores in Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida are closed for three days.
