IND vs AUS: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has given the pitch of Indore by the International Cricket Council i.e. ICC "Bad" Have formally protested against the rating. In a formal letter sent recently by a BCCI official, the BCCI has urged the ICC to review match referee Chris Broad’s report of a poor pitch at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The BCCI says that the match referee was too hasty in rating the Indore pitch.
Actually, because of the bad rating given by Chris Broad, the ICC has given 3 demerit points to the Indore pitch, which will be valid for a rolling period of five years. The third test match of the Border-Gavaskar series was played in Indore, which was over in just 2.5 days and India was defeated by Australia by 9 wickets.
BCCI appeals to ICC
Immediately after the match was over, the match referee gave it a poor rating and the ICC gave 3 demerit points to the Indore pitch. As per rules, if ICC gives 5 demerit points to a pitch, then that stadium cannot host any international match for the next 12 months. On the other hand, if a pitch gets 10 demerit points, then that stadium cannot host any international match for the next 24 months.
Due to this concern, the BCCI has appealed to the ICC to review the Indore match referee as he hastily gave a bad rating to the Indore pitch. According to the report, the BCCI has argued that the match referee’s decision on the pitch came just hours after the end of the Test, which was unusual in such cases by the ICC. In such a situation, BCCI officials feel that ICC can review the decision of the match referee regarding this decision and if possible, can tell this decision of the match referee as below average level. After the BCCI appealed, now a two-member ICC team will investigate the matter.
