BCCI Covid-19 Policy: Before the World Test Championship final 2023, good news has come out for Team India. BCCI can change its Kovid-19 rules. According to the current Kovid-19 policy of BCCI, after getting infected, the player has to spend 5 days in isolation. But the change in this rule on the lines of ICC from the side of BCCI is believed to be almost certain. Like ICC, BCCI will also be able to allow players to play despite being Kovid positive.
The ICC changed its stand during the Commonwealth Games and allowed players to play even after being Kovid positive. On the other hand, if we talk about the current IPL 2023, according to the policy of BCCI, the infected player will have to isolate himself for 7 days. In the last Test played against England, captain Rohit Sharma could not be a part of the team due to Kovid. Now infected players without symptoms will be able to play on the field, the change in policy from the BCCI is believed to be fixed.
Speaking to ‘InsideSports’, a BCCI official said, “We are discussing whether we should change the Covid policy for the World Test Championship final and follow the ICC guidelines on this. We have an old Covid policy for IPL 2023 to reduce the risk of infection in case of an outbreak. But all players and officials are vaccinated with booster dose. So, it shouldn’t be a problem.”
What does ICC say?
In the T20 World Cup 2022 played in Australia, the ICC removed all the necessary biosecurity protocols and said that the team doctors would take necessary steps on this. Doctors will decide that if the player of the team is fit to play then he will come on the field, if not then he will have to isolate himself.
