But the last 8 overs marked the debacle of their batting order, as Karishma Ramharack produced a Palyer of the Match performance by running through their batting order and registering the figures of 4/17 in her 4 overs.┬а

In reply, West Indies Women shwoed their intent from the very first ball, as they had Net Run Rate factor in their mind. Handy knocks from Hayley Matthews and rest of the top order helped the former champions race down the target within 12.5 overs, and with that, they are now on top of Group B.

Here’s What Both Captains Said During Post-Match Presentation Ceremony

Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh Women Captain):

“Yeah, I think we had a good start. Seeing the last two games, in the middle overs we played a lot of dots and gave them too many wickets that cost us. Their bowlers bowled well and didn’t give us room to play our shots. There are a lot of things we can take learnings from. You have to be positive in such tournaments. Our side is not too experienced in these big tournaments. What we need is focus on our intent, it is our job to be strong as a batting unit in the next game.”

“Our focus will be to play good game and go back home with a win. Hopefully, we will get a win and this is what we are thinking about. Definitely want to take back something to remember. It has been amazing, feels like home away from home. It supposed to be in Bangladesh. So many fans are cheering for us and it has been motivating for us.”

Hayley Matthews (West Indies Women Captain):

“Yeah, I think so. We were pretty much disciplined with the bat. We made them hit where we wanted them to. We wanted to show the intent with the bat. It helps to go into the last match with a healthy net run rate. She was great. Excellent execution. She bowled according to the field. She has so much experience and made it count tonight.”

“She has got a knee problem. She’s a fighter; she knows how to manage her body. It’s a World Cup, and you have to win almost all your matches. She’s a crucial player in our line-up. Around the water break, she wanted to go off. We have a crucial match coming up. So, its important to have everyone fit.”

“Luckily, we’ve got the last match of the group. We have to win. You have to beat the best teams in the World Cup, and we are up for the challenge.”
