T20 World Cup: Jos Buttler’s fitness remains a big problem in front of England ahead of next month’s T20 World Cup. However, England captain Jos Buttler is working hard to recover from his injury. Butler has not played a match during The Hundred since August 18 due to injury. He is on seven T20 tours of Pakistan, where he is watching his teammates.
England’s campaign in the World Cup will begin with a match against Afghanistan in Perth on 22 October. Before this, England has two more T20 matches against Pakistan and three more T20 matches against Australia. But Butler is very cautious about his injury. Butler is taking time to return to full fitness.
Butler said, “I feel good now. It will be good to play soon but with the World Cup we need to be careful. I feel like it was a World Cup match, tomorrow I could play but I should be a little cautious I am and trying not to be hasty.”
Brooke will get a place in the team
As a non-playing member of the England team, Butler is getting to know his teammates in a variety of situations. “It’s a very unique situation to be here and observe. I’m learning a lot by listening to the team and seeing their way of things and wondering what to do in times like these,” he said.
He further added, “Stand-in captain Moeen Ali has been fantastic. I have asked him a lot to lead the team and take it as captain and he has been fantastic. He is always around the group on and off the field. He is a great player. I have been impressed by him.”
Buttler is set to open for England in the T20 World Cup and hinted at rising batsman Harry Brooke to find a middle-order spot for the tournament opener.
