Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that instead of blaming the Center for the delay in GST compensation, states should ensure that the Accountant General’s authentication certificate (AG) is sent on time. These are necessary to get GST money.

Responding to several questions on GST compensation raised by DMK’s A Raja and RSP’s NK Premachandran during Question Hour in Lok Sabha, Sitharaman said Kerala government has not sent AG’s statements for five years i.e. from 2017-18 to 2021-22 . She said, “I am looking at my records and saying that Kerala has not sent the certified statements of AG for GST compensation for 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22. Sorry you haven’t sent it even for a year. Year after year is passing and thus valuable time of the House is being wasted.”

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Have you sent me the certified account of the AG even for one year to receive my compensation dues? Then, it is alleged that the Center is not releasing funds on time.
