According to Islamic belief, on Eid ul Azha Allah tested Prophet Ibrahim and asked him to sacrifice his most beloved thing. The Prophet loved his son Hazrat Ismail the most and he was dearer to him than life itself.
After getting the order of Allah, Prophet Ibrahim decided to sacrifice his son. As soon as he was going to sacrifice his son, Allah gave life to his son. Allah sacrificed the animal instead of the son. In memory of this incident which happened on the tenth day of Zilhijj, every year on the tenth day of the month of Zilhijj, the festival of Eid-ul-Azha or Bakrid is celebrated.
