Garuda Purana, Lord Vishnu Niti: Giving charity is considered a very virtuous work. It is believed that by giving charity, there is an increase in virtuous deeds and you get the fruit of charity not only in this birth but also for many births. Even after death one gets the fruits of the charity given and gets a place in heaven. At the same time, God is also pleased by doing charity.
But being poor yourself, becoming a donor may prove to be difficult for you. So donate only when you are financially capable of donating. In the Acharkand of Garuda Purana, in the chapter of Nitisar, many works have been described for a happy and prosperous life, one of them is ‘charity’. In this, through a verse, the importance of charity and when it should be done has been explained. If you adopt this in your life, then you will never have to face the shortage of money. Know about this verse mentioned in Garuda Purana.
Donor poor: Krupanorthyukt: Putrovidheya: Kujanasya service.
Parapakareshu Narasya Mrityu: Prajayate Dishcharitani Panch.
The meaning of this verse mentioned in Garuda Purana is that no person should donate when he himself is poor. Being poor can make you poor by becoming a donor. Apart from this, donating for show should be avoided. Rather donate as much as you are capable of. Donating more than this can be a burden for you and you may have to face problems later.
It has been told in the scriptures that a person should donate one-tenth of his earned money or earnings i.e. ten percent. Along with this, donate to any person who is in need of donation, only then you get the virtue of the donation given. One should never donate when one is in need. Apart from this, other things have also been told in Garuda Purana for a happy life, which are as follows-
- Don’t be stingy when you have money Don’t be a grain when you are poor and don’t be stingy when you have money. If you are capable, then definitely help the poor and needy.
- Make your children cultured Parents should always give good manners to their children. Those who do not do this, they may have to be humiliated in the society. So bring up the child with good deeds and thoughts.
- Loss of others for one’s own gain Never do bad to anyone for your own benefit. By doing this you become the sufferer of sin.
- Do not be in the company of unrighteous people. Consistency has the most effect on a person. That’s why avoid the company of unrighteous and wrong people.
