What is the rule for general category

First of all, let’s talk about the general category students, then these students get 6 chances to appear in the UPSC CSE exam. If we talk about the age limit, then the age limit has been fixed for them at 32 years. A candidate can appear in the exam a maximum of 6 times till he attains the age of 32 years. Earlier, the age limit for general category candidates was 26 years and they got a total of 4 attempts.

OBC and SC / ST candidates

OBC candidates get 9 attempts for UPSC CSE exam. The age limit for them has been fixed at 35 years. That is, till the age of 35, these candidates can give the exam a total of 9 times.

At the same time, the rule is different for SC, ST category students. They can give as many attempts as they want till they reach the upper age limit. That is, they get unlimited attempts and the age limit for them is 37 years.

PH candidates

The age limit for PH candidates is 42 years. If we talk about the category, then the candidates of General and OBC category get a total of 9 attempts. While SC, ST candidates can give as many attempts as they want till the maximum age limit is reached.
