Unemployment Rate in India 2022 : The Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has released India’s unemployment figures. According to CMIE data, the rate has come down drastically in the month of September due to increase in labor participation in rural and urban areas in the country. During the month of August, India’s unemployment rate reached a 1-year high of 8.3 percent. Employment fell by 2 million sequentially to 394.6 million.

CMIE Managing Director Mahesh Vyas says that with the increase in labor participation in both urban and rural areas, the unemployment rate has come down significantly in September. The unemployment rate in rural areas declined to 5.84 per cent in September from 7.68 per cent in August, while it has come down to 7.70 per cent in urban areas from 9.57 per cent in the previous month. He said that the increase in labor participation by about 8 million is an indication that the country’s economy is doing well.

Highest unemployment rate in Rajasthan

According to CMIE data, Rajasthan had the highest unemployment rate at 23.8 per cent in September, followed by Jammu and Kashmir at 23.2 per cent, Haryana at 22.9 per cent, Tripura at 17 per cent, Jharkhand at 12.2 per cent and Bihar. is at 11.4 percent.

0.4 percent unemployment rate in Assam

In the month of September, Chhattisgarh has the lowest 0.1 percent, Assam 0.4 percent, Uttarakhand 0.5 percent, Madhya Pradesh 0.9 percent, Gujarat 1.6 percent, Meghalaya 2.3 percent and Odisha 2.9 percent unemployment data has been shown.

Rains across the country have affected the sowing activities to a great extent. This has affected employment in rural India. CMIE data shows that the urban unemployment rate rose to 9.6 percent in August and the rural unemployment rate also increased to 7.7 percent.
