- toor dal half cup
- Mustard seeds half teaspoon Peanuts half bowl
- Ginger grated one teaspoon
- cumin half teaspoon
- oil two spoons
- curry leaves 6 to 7
- one chopped tomato
- lemon juice one teaspoon
- cinnamon one teaspoon
- asafoetida one teaspoon
- turmeric powder half tsp
- Red chilli powder half tsp
- coriander leaves finely chopped
- salt to taste
- kokum two piece
How to make Toor Dal
- To make toor dal, first wash the dal thoroughly with water about 4 times.
- Then take two cups of water in the cooker and put the lentils in it.
- After this, put the cooker on the gas and cook till about 3 whistles.
- After cooking the dal, mix it well.
- After removing the lentils from the cooker, keep a pan on the gas and put oil in it.
- Wait till this oil becomes hot.
- Now add tempering of mustard, cumin, ginger, curry leaves and cardamom to it.
- Leave these spices to cook for some time.
- When the masala is almost cooked, add tomato, turmeric powder, red chili and other spices and mix it.
- When all the spices put in the pan are cooked well, then add the cooked lentils.
- Add salt, jaggery, peanuts and a little water to it and cook it well.
- Now when the dal comes to a boil, turn off the gas.
- After this garnish it with coriander leaves.
- Toor dal is ready, you can eat it with rice or roti.
