If people going abroad or living there want to exchange their 2000 rupee notes, then they can exchange 2000 rupee notes by going to their Indian bank branch there.
Apart from this, they have the option of depositing these notes, they can go to the branch of their Indian bank abroad and deposit them.
If both these options are not possible for those living or going abroad, then those people can come to India and deposit or exchange these notes by 30 September 2023.
Ashwani Rana also says that Rs 2000 notes have been taken out of circulation but they will remain legal tender. From May 23 to September 30, Rs 20,000 notes can be exchanged and the notes can be deposited in your account as well.
Why was the decision to withdraw Rs 2000 notes taken?
Ashwani Rana says that Rs 2000 notes printed after demonetisation were deposited by black money holders and were not in circulation, due to which they were not contributing to the country’s economy.
