Ingredients to make Sheermal Roti

  • Flour – 1 cup
  • milk 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • Saffron – 1/4 tsp
  • Desi ghee – 1/2 cup
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • Pistachios – 10 to 12
  • Almonds – 10 to 12
  • Cashew – 10 to 12
  • coconut powder 1 tsp

Sheermal Roti Recipe

  • To make Sheermal roti, first of all put refined flour in a vessel.
  • Now add desi ghee, sugar and baking powder to the flour and mix everything well.
  • Take a small bowl and prepare the batter by adding saffron and one spoon of hot water.
  • Add this solution to the flour mixture and mix it properly.
  • Now add cardamom powder, coconut powder and a pinch of salt to this mixture.
  • After this add milk little by little and knead the dough soft.
  • After kneading the dough, cover it with a cloth and keep it for 20 minutes to settle.
  • Now after 20 minutes, take the dough and prepare balls from it.
  • Roll the dough round, keep in mind that the sheelmal roti should remain slightly thick.
  • After rolling the roti, make holes in the roti everywhere with the help of fork or toothpick.
  • Now heat a non stick griddle on medium flame.
  • After the griddle is hot, put the rolled sheermal roti on the griddle and roast it.
  • After some time, when the roti starts puffing up from one side, turn it over and cook it from the other side.
  • When the roti starts to puff up a little from the other side too, remove it from the griddle and cook it on direct flame till it turns golden brown from both the sides.
  • After this, apply desi ghee on the roti and put dry fruits on it and take it out.
  • Your sheermal roti is ready, eat it yourself and also feed it to the guests.
