When the last time the selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma was constituted in 2020, the BCCI had made it clear in its statement that ‘the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will review the candidates after a year and make recommendations to the BCCI.’
Let us tell you that whether Chetan Sharma will remain on the post of chairman in the selection committee or not will be decided by looking at who is in the fray as his candidate. It is worth noting that according to the rules of BCCI, the selectors with the most Test caps automatically come to the post of President.
However, there was a lot of criticism about this rule because now the focus is not only on Tests in cricket. Regarding this rule, it was said that there is a need for a reconstituted selection committee, which is well versed in T20.
Significantly, less than a year is left in the tenure of East Zone Selector Debashish Mohanty. According to the constitution of BCCI, any member of the selection committee can hold office for five years.
