Milk Product Price: For some time, the demand for milk and dairy products has increased and due to increase in cost, an increase in the price of milk has been seen. Major companies like Amul and Mother Dairy have increased the price of milk several times since September 2022 till now by Rs 2 to 3 per litre. Due to the continuous increase in the price of milk and its products, the budget of the people’s house has deteriorated. Experts believe that the price of milk can either increase or remain stable during this summer. There is no possibility of reduction in the prices of milk and products.
On the other hand, the central government has said in its statement that the demand for milk and its products is high, but the government is not considering its import. The officials have called the news going on in some media reports as misleading. Animal Husbandry Officer Rajesh Singh said that no decision has been taken on the import of products yet. The interests of the dairy owners will be considered before taking such a decision.
Why milk prices may remain stable
Industry experts said a sharp rise in demand for dairy products amid almost stable milk production in the last one year has resulted in a steep supply situation and a rise in prices. India’s milk production in the year 2021-22 was 221 million tonnes, which was 6.25 percent more than the previous year’s 208 million tonnes. However, production is expected to remain stable or increase in 2022-23. This means that people are not seeing any possibility of getting relief in the price of milk during the summer.
Prices of fruits and vegetables also increased
Announcing the monetary policy, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das also said in his statement that milk prices may also remain stable in the summer season due to demand-supply balance and fodder cost pressure. The Governor also told that since December last year, the retail inflation rate has increased, which is due to the increase in the prices of fruits, vegetables and other essential items.
What reason did dairy companies give for the increase in prices?
Milk supplying companies have been continuously increasing the prices of milk since September last year, due to which the prices of milk products have also increased. Dairy owners say that due to the shortage of fodder and increase in its costs, the prices of raw milk have increased, due to which the price of milk has increased to reach the people.
