The stock market closed with a heavy fall due to profit booking in banking-FMCG stocks, Sensex 50

Stock Market Closing On 7 July 2023: The last trading session of the week was extremely disappointing for the Indian stock market. Due to profit booking by the investors, there was a brake on the ongoing rally in the market. Sensex Nifty closed with a heavy fall due to sharp fall in banking, energy and FMCG stocks. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 505 points at 65,280 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed down by 165 points at 19,331 points.

Big decline in today’s trade was seen in FMCG and Banking indices. Nifty FMCG fell 823 points to close at 52,942 points, while Nifty Bank fell 414 points to close at 44,925 points due to a sharp fall in the stocks of both the sectors. Shares of IT, Pharma, Metals, Energy, Infra, Healthcare, Oil and Gas, Consumer Durables sectors also closed down. Only auto, media and PSU banks stocks gained. In today’s trade, mid-cap and small stocks have seen a decline, out of 30 Sensex stocks, only 5 closed in the green while 25 closed with a decline. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 7 closed with gains and 43 with losses.

Falling Stocks

In today’s business, Tata Motors closed with a gain of 2.90 percent, Titan Company 1.21 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra 0.99 percent, SBI 0.19 percent. While Adani Ports closed down by 2.88 per cent, Power Grid by 2.76 per cent, Apollo Hospital by 2.69 per cent.

2 lakh crore loss to investors

Investors have suffered a loss of Rs 2 lakh crore in today’s trade. The market cap of listed stocks on BSE was Rs 301.70 lakh crore on Thursday, which has come down to Rs 299.68 lakh crore in today’s trade.
