Wheat & Atta Prices: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) on Friday said it will start weekly e-auctions from February 1 with a reserve price of Rs 2,350 per quintal plus transportation cost. Under this, FCI is planning to sell 25 lakh tonnes of wheat to the bulk consumers. The government on Wednesday announced plans to sell three million tonnes of wheat from its buffer stock in the open market under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) to check rising prices of wheat and wheat flour. The flour made from this wheat will not be sold at a rate of more than Rs 29.50-30 per kg. The current prices of flour are at the rate of Rs 36-38 per kg. From this point of view, flour can be cheaper by Rs.6 to Rs.8.

Wheat will be given at concessional rate

FCI will sell 25 lakh tonnes of wheat to bulk consumers like flour mills through e-auction out of this 30 lakh tonnes. Whereas, 2 lakh tonnes will be given to the States/Union Territories and 3 lakh tonnes to other institutions and State PSUs for converting wheat into flour at a subsidized rate. It will not be allowed to sell it at a higher rate of Rs 29.50 per kg.

FCI chairman Ashok K Meena gave information

FCI chairman Ashok K Meena said, “The tenders will be completed today and the e-auction will be held on Wednesday.” Auction will be held on every Wednesday on weekly basis. He said that the first auction will be held on February 1, which will run till March 15. Wheat will be offered with a reserve price of Rs 2,350 per quintal plus freight charges. He said that a buyer can bid for a maximum quantity of 3,000 tonnes and a minimum of 10 tonnes. He said, “We hope that small traders and small flour mill owners will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Wheat stock available across the country

FCI Chairman said that regional offices have been instructed not only to issue tenders for e-auction of wheat, but also local flour millers, traders and manufacturers of wheat products to register themselves on the FCI platform. have been asked to encourage them to participate in the e-auction. According to the FCI chief, wheat stock is available in the whole country and all the states will be able to provide the stock.

Which state will get how much wheat – know

He said that about 5 lakh tonnes of wheat would be offered in Madhya Pradesh and Punjab, 4 lakh tonnes in Maharashtra, 2.5 lakh tonnes in Rajasthan, 1.55 lakh tonnes in Bihar, 1.25 lakh tonnes in West Bengal and one lakh tonnes in Haryana. Meena also said that the reserve price fixed for wheat is equal to the acquisition cost and less than the economic cost of Rs 2,654 per quintal. FCI, the nodal agency of the government for procurement and distribution of food grains, had about 156.96 lakh tonnes of wheat in its buffer stock as on January 26.
